hi miss peelpants……….nice to seesomething by mariefrance for quorum….I shared a studio with her at quorum & she was the unsung heroine at quorum…..her clothes sold like hotcakes……Sheridan Barnett

    • Hello Sheridan, I would love to know more about Marie. I’ve had a few dresses with just her label in, and seen a handful of the Quorum pieces, but have never heard anything about her as a person. What was she like?

first of all can I say how much I enjoy ur pages…..u have perfect taste!

Marie France was half French half Swedish & was a very sweet quiet beautiful girl in the mid 70’s when I knew her…..very hardworking & funny…..she had been recruited by quorum by the genius manager of quorum, brian shack, to do more “wearable” commercial versions of Ossie & Alice but quickly developed her own style which were very successful…….when brian left, Quorum fell apart, sheilagh brown, Marie France Alice & myself all left.
btw I read an article on ur pages by David Silverman’s son……I was Davids designer in the late 60’s….another genius who died much to early…..he was amazingly inspiring to work for and was way ahead of biba with the tight silhouette…..he loved the French designers like Sonia Rykiel who was then doing stuff for a shop called laura
david’s showroom manager was Polly Hamilton who left to open browns south molton st named after her then BF William Biggot Brown, Polly then moved on to be an editor on 19 mag & then briefly Vogue in 1971
I went on to have a business with Sheilagh Brown & then worked for Salvador.

I love all of these white summery outfits in these pics and those two or three pics in the middle with those pyjama-type outfits that have come back into style in particular and I love the chunky bangles in the last picture. They really knew how to create a style and atmosphere for most of these pictures back in the day didn’t they?
